Keep the umbrella close this weekend, especially today as a large area of low pressure will bring rain chances through a good portion of the weekend. It will be cloudy, rainy and foggy with mild temperatures for December as highs climb to 45 degrees in Milwaukee. Most locations in southeast Wisconsin will pick up a quarter to a half an inch of rain during the day today. Even though rain chances taper off tonight, some spots could still pick up an additional tenth of an inch of rain. The precipitation stays as rain heading into Sunday because overnight lows stay near 40 degrees. Sunday will be the better day out of the weekend with mostly cloudy skies and fewer persistent rain showers but there are still chances for a few spotty showers during the day.
Colder air moves in for the work week with highs in the upper 30s, but that's still mild for December. A stray flurry or sprinkle is possible on Monday, but it won't be as wet as the weekend. We return to 40 degrees in Milwaukee by Wednesday but that evening our next weathermaker pushes in, bringing a chance of rain and snow to the forecast by Thursday, this could be a substantial snow storm if enough cold air moves into southeast Wisconsin. A few snow showers are possible on Friday as colder air wraps around the back side of this storm system. Next weekend looks much colder with highs only in the 20s.
