Dry and mild Saturday before Sunday storm

CREATED Dec 8, 2012

Southeastern Wisconsin saw a light rain/snow mix last night from a storm system that has now pushed east of the area.  A few flurries are possible mainly in the morning but today will be the better day out of the weekend with a bit of clearing throughout the middle of the day.  It will still be partly to mostly cloudy though temperatures will be mild: hovering near 40 degrees in Milwaukee.  Cloud cover increases tonight as two areas of low pressure edge closer to southeastern Wisconsin, overnight temperatures will drop into the low 30s.

Sunday will start out cloudy and dry but as the two storm systems move in there is a slight chance for a light rain/snow mix to move in before 10am.  As temperatures are again expected to be in the upper 30s and low 40s, we will see mainly scattered rain showers through Sunday in Milwaukee.  As temperatures drop Sunday night, a rain/snow mix can again be expected mainly after 9pm, changing to all light snow after midnight.  Snow accumulations will be light in southeast Wisconsin, however colder air will allow for some snow to accumulate to the north and west of Milwaukee, with one to two inches expected through Sunday night.

Winds crank up from the WNW on Monday and cold air returns to the forecast as highs struggle to hit even 30 degrees.  A few flurries are possible on Monday but little to no snow accumulation is expected.  The rest of the week looks quiet and cold with high temperatures slowly climbing to near 40 by the end of the week.
