MILWAUKEE- The weekend will be sunny to partly cloudy and rather cold for this time of year, so bundle up any trick-or-treaters. Temperatures both today and Sunday will be in the middle-forties and will drop to at or below freezing at night. The cold air will stick around right through much of next week.

The month of October ends in five days and it looks like those days will be dry. In a time of moderate drought that sounds like bad news, but the rainfall over past two weeks beginning on October 13th has been a blessing.

Areas across southeast Wisconsin have accumulated between two and a half and five inches of new precipitation. For example Fond du Lac has seen 5.03 inches of total rainfall, while Sheboygan had received just under five inches. Beaver Dam and West Bend were the beneficiaries of around four and a quarter inches of new rainfall, while Mukwonago saw three and a half inches of rainfall. Racine and Kenosha along with Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee picked up a little less than three inches of new rainfall.

These rains have helped with the drought situation, as there is no extreme drought indicated for southeast Wisconsin on the latest update. Most of this area has between abnormally dry to moderate or severe drought conditions remaining in effect.
