Drier Saturday, stormy Sunday

Get ready for a warmer weekend with highs in the 70s in southeast Wisconsin.  Today the clouds will be decreasing and we'll see partly to mostly sunny skies by the end of the day, keeping us dry during the daytime hours.  Tonight is a different story as a warm front noses into the area, bringing a good chance for showers and thunderstorms to develop.  Some locations along the Illinois border could see periods of heavy rain but most locations will see a quarter of an inch to a half an inch of rain.  Lows stay mild, in the mid-50s.

Sunday is the day to be weather aware as that warm front continues to bring even warmer and more unstable air into southeastern Wisconsin.  Highs will top out in the mid-70s and it will be windy with strong SW winds at 15-25mph, gusting to 40mph.  The warm front will continue to spark off showers and thunderstorms and with the instability of summer-like conditions, there is a chance for some stronger thunderstorms that could reach severe thresholds, but not everyone will see severe weather.  Rain totals through Sunday night will again be in the quarter to a half an inch range.

The rain tapers off on Monday but the winds stay strong as they switch from the SW to the NW along the cold front associated with this storm system.  That will force temperatures to fall throughout the day, so highs will be in the 50s in the morning, falling into the 40s by the afternoon.  We stay in the 50s through the rest of the work week with the next chances for rain on Wednesday and Friday.
