The forecast for Milwaukee, Waukesha and SE Wisconsin is for clouds and a high near 40 with a light breeze today. Lows tonight will be near freezing with a light rain/snow mix developing after midnight with a dusting of snow accumulation by morning.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Friday afternoon and evening for all of SE Wisconsin as a storm system intensifies and tracks into the area putting us in the heavy precipitation bands. Like all the past storms this winter, it is a tricky forecast as temperaures will be near 40 on Friday with rain showers likely, especially from Milwaukee and south. As the afternoon wears on, temperatures will cool so we are expecting a rain/snow mix that will change to all snow by late afternoon and evening. It will change quicker to the west and north so snow totals are going to be higher north of Milwaukee.
I am expecting 4-7" of heavy wet snow west and north of Milwaukee and Waukesha by the time the snow tapers off around midnight. Milwaukee, Waukesha and areas to the south about 2-4" of snow. Remember, this is tricky and totals could change in either direction depending on the temperature Friday afternoon.
Saturday will be cloudy and windy with a rain/snow mix and highs in the id 30s. Sunday will have flurries with highs in the lower 30s. Highs in the low to mid 50s return on Tuesday and most of next week...March is here!
