I UNDERSTAND IT
I JUST DON'T GET IT
So Harley Davidson is making millions, yet it's closing plants and firing people.
I understand why that is... but I just don't get it.
See... it's all about Wall Street. I'm no economist, but I'm beginning to understand how this all works, and I don't like it. If anybody out there knows better, please feel free to correct me, but I just can't appreciate a system that doesn't reward companies for making money.
Here's my point. The Harley Davidson earnings report declared the company earned $26.5 million dollars... in the third quarter! Granted, that is down, sharply, more than 80% year to year. But it's making money! Lots of money. Making lots of money selling something that people don't need in the worst economy since the great depression.
Here's what's nuts. Often times companies that lose money will still rally on Wall Street. So it's better to lose money if it's less than the Street predicted you'd lose... than it is to make money if it's less than the Street predicted you'd earn.
I guess it's all about what direction your going in. Like I said, I understand it. I just don't get it.
