VIKINGS WANT DECISION
I know some viewers have criticized continuing updates on the status of our former superstar quarterback Brett Favre. I do find the back and forth reporting of conflicting anonymous sources somewhat exhausting. Still, as a fan, I am interested in every nugget. It's one of those stories I love to hate. I hear the reports too and say, "Now what?" Yet, I do want to know what.
So I was really intrigued by a report this morning by Sports Illustrated's Peter King. He's reporting the Vikings are leaning on Favre to make a decision... possibly by week's end... about whether he'd like to come play for them.
I love it.
Remember that time when Favre played for our Green Bay Packers and they gave him a deadline (weeks out from the end of the season) for when they wanted to know if he was returning? I remember a great deal of outrage from fans, and Favre's contention to this day that the Packers pushed him out.
I'm not going to get all into that debate again, drawing a conclusion on whose fault that all was. It's just interesting as time presses on, and Favre continues to conduct business as he does... it tends to support the Organization's position in the debate.
Is it that unreasonable that the company for which you work asks you to let them know in a timely manner whether or not you wish to remain employed? The Vikings are apparently asking that of Favre, and he didn't have almost 2 decades of experience with them. Just tell us if you're coming to work!
