SUPER EXTENDO WEATHER COVERAGE
INSIDE THE OPERATION
We're through about 2 hours into what will be, I'm predicting, at least 9 straight hours of Storm Team 4 coverage today.
I'm posting pictures of the operation here behind the scenes as I like to. Below left is our Snow Desk. Throughout the morning and into the day we've got anywhere from 8 to 12 people answering phones continuously. They take the calls on closings. They write them down. The paperwork goes to the picture in the bottom right, where others enter them into our computer system. The system updates the internet, as well as the information at the bottoms of the T.V. screen.
You may wonder how come kids don't call in fake closures for school and such. It's not that simple. Our closing desk begins coordinating with school districts in the fall. We develop known contacts, names and information, as well as a code word. You've got to have the code to get the information into the system.
And here's young Emily. My sister now producing the traffic reports. A busy day for her getting Lisa Mana updates from the Department of Transportation.
This is my snow story. Send me your snow photos and I'll do my best to post them.
