I GOT NO VOICE
Truth be told, I sound a lot worse than I feel.
I never call in sick. I just don't. It's not that I'm not sick, it's just that I don't call in sick. I've had three sick days since beginning my professional career back in 1995. I'll do the math for you. That's about 1 every 4 years.
Most people think I'm crazy. If you're sick... you're sick. Stay home and don't infect the rest of us. I've come to appreciate that, but you're still not going to convince me to stay home with a cold.
Here's where things get tricky. I'm on the air today, and you can tell I'm not 100%. My voice is gone. I had a cold all last week, and now it's moved from my head to my throat and chest. Nice. At some point, it becomes so distracting that I can't be effective in my job. We were pretty close to that point this morning, but my boss Rob thought it was okay. If you disagree, I'd be happy to entertain your arguments. Seriously, was it that bad?
Of all the days to not be at my best, November 4, 2008. Really? Election day? Thanks.
I'll be good tomorrow. I would appreciate any home style remedies if any body's got some suggestions for helping the voice come back quick.
