I WAS OUT...
...BUT THEN I OPENED MY MAIL
"Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in."
I generally object to Godfather III having ever been written and filmed, however... however... I accept its existence if for no other reason than it gave us that brilliant line spoken by Michael Corleone, "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."
It sums up the Brewer fan experience so many times, over so many seasons, doesn't it? None more notable than this one for me. I was out... angry but ready to look fondly ahead to next year. Then they pulled me back in... tied for the wild card with 4 to go at home.
It's not even that fact, necessarily, that got me back in. Rather, it was the FedEx package that arrived the other day. In it are two tickets per each potential Brewer playoff game at Miller Park. My playoff tickets came.
There they were... real tickets for real playoff games to be held in my stadium with my team. There are even tickets for games 3,4 and 5 of the World Series. The World Freakin' Series! It became real for the first time as I held those tickets... and I wanted it again.
Granted, the smart money is not on my needing those World Series tickets... but I guess that would be okay. I can't afford the ticket package I ordered, so if we don't make it, I guess I just pay the mortgage on time. That's good too.
