FAVRE TRADE... JUST SAD
A TALE OF TWO SIDES
I'm not going to take a public position on the Brett Favre trade, other than to say it's sad... for us... the fans.
I'm not taking Ted Thompson's side. I'm not taking Brett Favre's side. I'm taking our side. Either way the fans lose. Those who wanted Brett to come back... well... obviously you lose. Those who wanted him to stay retired, but forever a Green Bay Packer, you lose.
Who knows when we'll see Favre back in Green Bay again? Bridges weren't burned. They were blown up, mended, blown up again, rebuilt and then nuked.
It's sad, no matter which side you side with. It's sad.
This is how far apart the two sides drifted in all this. I had the thought yesterday, as Brett received a law enforcement escort to the airport in Green Bay. Here's how it would play in the news:
Brett Favre tells ESPN's Chris Mortensen, "They wanted me gone so bad, they sent the Sheriff to my house to kick me out of town."
FOX Sports Dot Com's Jay Glazer reports: A team source (Thompson) stated the Packers, in a gesture of good will, secured a safety escort for Favre as he left town.
Al Jones of the SunHerald based in Mississippi reports he received a text message from Favre in which Favre stated the reports about a law enforcement escort are, "Just rumors."
Go Packers. Go Jets.
