DON'T EVER, EVER LET THEM TELL YOU...
MORE WASTE EXPOSED
A half-million dollar system to help the 9-1-1 center in Dane County... never used.
We've been covering the story that just keeps getting worse out of Madison. A U.W. student murdered. That is, in itself a terrible thing.
What's worse, is the story has exposed layers of failure in our government funded operations, including this latest bomb-shell about the taxpayer supported 9-1-1 center.
Two years ago, taxpayers got charged $450,000 for a system that would help officials analyze how well the 9-1-1 center is operating. Until a college student wound up dead... murdered after she called 9-1-1 and got no help... until now, that system has never been used!
$450,000 of the people's money spent on a system that sat dormant for years.
Only now, in the wake of this tragedy, might the system actually be used. Great.
Don't ever, ever let a government official tell you there's no place left in the budget to cut. Don't ever, ever let them tell you the only way to get what we need is to tax you more.
Sometimes higher taxes are appropriate and necessary. I agree good government costs money.
Just don't ever tell me there's not more room to cut, and that raising taxes is the only way. Waste in government is widespread, and exposed every day.
