EINSTEIN, BRUEGGER SAVE THE DAY
COFFEE FOLLOW UP
MILWAUKEE Morning news resumed shortly before 7 AM today, after a couple local bagel shops brought fresh coffee to the TODAY'S TMJ4 News crew.
Early morning news was canceled at the NBC affiliate in Milwaukee, due to a malfunction in the coffee closet. That malfunction meant no coffee, causing the overnight and early morning work force to attempt performing without the aid of caffeinated beverages.
"Yeah, that just wasn't going to happen," Live at Daybreak Anchor Vince Vitrano stated. "So we did the prudent thing and called off the news, until we could get some coffee in these people."
The day took a promising turn when Einstein Bros. Bagels sent over several gallons of coffee.
The local Bruegger's Bagels stepped up as well... sending both coffee and bagels!
"If you'll just give it a second," News Anchor Diane Pathieu (left) urged the rabid throngs, "I'll lay it all out nicely for you!" Pathieu took the initiative to organize the Bagels and coffee, but was nearly trampled by staff eager to get their fix.
"We're going to do a 3 hour noon show... how 'bout that!" an excited Vitrano boasted while diving into his 4th cup of joe in seven minutes. "I mean, that's not that big a deal, really... I mean it's a big deal, but not a big deal, you know what I mean? What I mean is... the **%%%$ coffee is back, and so are we! That's what I mean to say. You know! You know what I'm talking about man!"
As it turned out, not only was the day's noon news not 3 hours, but it too was cancelled. Vitrano could not be located prior to air time. He was later found asleep in the dressing room.
Production specialist Dwight Cannon (right) asked Vitrano to announce on tomorrow's news that our omelet maker, steak grill, and margarita blender are broken as well.
