ON AIR MELT-DOWN
I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY MADE ME DO THIS STORY
Unprofessional, juvenile, slappy, immature, and just plain bad. Yes, my melt down was all those things, but sometimes funny is funny. Oh, and also it was Susan's fault.
We ran the story this morning of the cook at a West Bend steak joint who allegedly garnished a customer's steak with his own body hair. Nice.
Now, the guy says it was his facial hair, but another cook is quoted in the criminal complaint. He said the suspect put something in the steak and then announced, "These are my pubes!"
C'mon. Tell me you didn't laugh just now.
I'm sure it wasn't real funny to the customer who said he took three bites of the hairy steak. It's probably not too funny to the suspect who now faces a felony charge. But man, at 5:30 AM it's a battle to keep a straight face reading that story.
Here's more inside stuff. It was Susan who wrote the story, and somehow I got stuck reading it! It also should be noted as you review the video, I was doing just fine. I was going to get through it... until my colleague, my friend, the voice of reason on the anchor desk... until Susan started cracking up... so much so that she actually turned away from me on the desk.
I blame her fully, as I do for all my shortcomings.
