MAKING IT UP AS WE GO
NO SCRIPTS... LOOSE PLAN
They say laws and sausages are two things you're better off not knowing how they're made.
I'm not sure breaking news or extended Weatherplus coverage falls into that category, but it isn't always real pretty. Here's a little insight into what's going on this morning from the anchor desk.
Our producers are letting us know... sometimes seconds before we do it... what comes next. I've got a close up there of my notebook, where I basically keep some notes about what the rundown is. Susan does the same.
Essentially the "what comes next" portion of the notebook will read like this:
BRKFLD (which means we're taking a live picture from Brookfield that Susan and I will talk over)
TOSS CRAIG LISA (means Susan and I introduce Craig who will then send it to Lisa for traffic)
FISH OUTSIDE (Michael Fish reports from out on the lawn, just outside our studio)
MPS/CITY (means just a mention of MPS closing and what's happening in City of Milwaukee)
MELISSA BROOKTOWN (sending it out to Melissa McCrady who's reporting live in Brookfield)
BRK (go to commercial break)
And so goes the day... segment by segment... hour by hour. It's the most fun a news anchor can have. There's nothing like not knowing what's coming next.
Still ahead in the blog this morning... our snow coverage quote list, and your pictures and answers to questions if you send them in.
