GOTTA CALL YOU OUT ON THIS ONE
DON'T TAKE TOO MUCH CREDIT, ALDERMAN
Milwaukee Alderman Bob Bauman is trying to do a good thing, but his sound bite this morning reveals just how busy your elected officials are these days.
The Alderman's idea is to have Milwaukee Public Works crews shovel bus stops and cross walks by hand. That, as apposed to doing as DPW does now, which is to use front end loaders and plows to do the job. Bauman argues, and perhaps correctly so, that doing the job by hand will be quicker, more thorough, and cheaper.
All good. Who's not for that? You want your alderman trying to make the city a better place, and he's trying.
Here's what stood out to me, however, this morning when I heard the interview with Ald. Bauman. He told our Melissa McCrady, "I've lived in this city for 30 years. For 20 years I've noticed a problem with bus stops and cross walks."
What's wrong with this quote? Anyone?
You mean it only took you 2 decades to get around to that, Alderman! My goodness, I hope nobody calls because their trash didn't get picked up.
In fairness, it is the man's first term... but still.
