SANTA VISIT ENTIRELY UNDERWHELMING
2 YEAR OLD DIDN'T GET IT
So we went to see Santa, and 2 1/2 year old Ella was not real impressed.
Ella went to see Santa last year. At least she didn't cry. That's the most I hoped for in a kid just a year and a half old. Well this year was different. She understood how it was supposed to work this time, you go and ask the guy in the red suit for what you want for Christmas.
There we were the Friday before Christmas in line at Mayfair. I know, pretty late, but you get to it when you get to it.
Ella handled herself pretty well. Jolly Old St. Nick covered the whole... have you been good thing... then asked what she wanted.
SANTA: "What would you like for Christmas?"
SANTA: "What kind of toys?"
ELLA: "Just toys."
And that was the end of that. Santa told me to count my blessings... said he had a kid earlier who told him, "I only want three things: a plasma TV, an I-Pod and an Nintendo WII." Just three things... that cost a few thousand dollars. I don't think the elves filled that order.
So Ella said thank you to Santa, even got a little coloring book they hand out after the meeting. I thought the coloring book was a nice touch, but it proved to be the source of some confusion.
I'm debriefing her as she sat pensively in her stroller. We went over the whole, brief experience. She seemed unmoved. "Did you tell Santa what you wanted?" I asked.
"I said I wanted toys, but I got this book instead," Ella replied.
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and got what you really wanted.
