FAVRE, PACKERS NEED TIME OUT
EXPLAINING FOOTBALL TO 2-YEAR-OLD
It was early in the 4th quarter and the Packers took a "time out," which worried my 2-year-old daughter.
It's a joy of parenthood that's just coming into focus for me. It's moments like the one I shared yesterday with my young daughter that make all the sacrifices and insanity worth it. I know you veterans in parenting have countless stories like these, but we're just starting to accumulate them with our young family.
Ella is now almost 2 and a half. For whatever reason she actually sat still for a while on my lap during yesterday's Packer game. It's amazing molding a young life, isn't it? The kid's got green and gold gear, cheers touchdowns, and has already learned to identify Brett Favre.
She's beginning to get it... a little bit. She correctly differentiated between Rams and Packers. She correctly declared, "We don't like Rams," adding, "We like Packers."
Other observations offered, "He trying to get him," and, "He throws the ball far."
Things were going well until Favre's helmet speaker apparently gave him trouble, forcing him to call a time out. As the play clock is winding down, I begin yelling, "Time out! Time Out!"
Ella's response, "Time out, daddy? What did he do?"
