ICE CREAM STORY ELICITS MOVIE REFERENCE
EAT THE PIG... EAT THE PIG...
...ZIGGY ZIGGY ZIGGY ZIG!
Story this morning on Live at Daybreak about a $1000 dollar ice cream sundae. It's so expensive because it's served at a swanky joint in New York City... oh, and also because it's covered in gold. Yes, it has edible gold.
That sent me into instant recall of one of my favorite movies back in the day... Bill and Ted's excellent adventure. Remember Ted's brother was assigned to babysit Napoleon while he and Bill went in search of other figures of historical significance. So Ted's brother Deacon took Napoleon to the ice cream shop.
They ordered this massive Sundae called the Ziggy Pig. The wait staff brings it out chanting, "Eat the pig. Eat the pig. Ziggy, ziggy, ziggy, zig. Oink, oink, oink."
After eating the whole thing... a chocolate faced Napoleon gets a button which he pins on his military uniform. Awesome.
The eating of the gold also caused me to recall putting some "smart" cider in the microwave once and watching sparks fly. I like to throw in a little Goldschlager with some quality Wisconsin cider. Tasty. One time mine needed a little warm up... so I threw it in the wave... real gold specks and all Yeah. that didn't work out too well... I don't recommend it.
