FLETCH REFERENCE ON LIVE AT DAYBREAK
PROBABLY LOST ON MANY
Sometimes I say stuff on Live at Daybreak just for me.
The first rule of public speaking (and in this case speaking for broadcast) is know your audiencece. In other words, you need to speak in a language your audience can understand, from a perspective to which they can relate, and about a topic which applies to them.
We usually do that on Live at Daybreak, but honestly on occasion I ignore all that and throw in something just for me. That's often the case with movie lines. Actually, Koplien is often there with me, and I know there are a few of you out there who may catch it.
Today in a discussion about hail, we were debating the difference between pea-sized hail and marble-sized hail. Susan questioned if there was an in between measurement to which I responded, "ball bearings."
I then followed with the classic line from Fletch, "It's all ball bearings these days guys. Maybe you need a refresher course."
If you wondered what the heck I was talking about there, it was that.
