TODAY'S TMJ4 SOFTBALL WINS...
...FOR SECOND TIME
MILWAUKEE Today's TMJ4 softball scored a decisive, if not rare, victory last night... securing the seventh seed in the upcoming media league playoffs. Only the eighth seeded team lost more games than TMJ4 this season.
The win positions TMJ4 to lose by fewer runs in the first round than if they had been seeded eighth.
"Yeah, we totally could have lost that first playoff game by like 15 runs," said morning anchor/outfielder Vince Vitrano. "Now, we'll probably lose by only about 7, and there's no shame in that," Vitrano continued. "Well... there's a little shame, but not a ton of shame."
Special Assignments photographer/outfielder Ira Klussendorf drove-in Vitrano in the top of the last inning to push TMJ4 ahead for good.
"Vinny doesn't come to a lot of games," Klussendorf complained. "He's always saying stuff like he's got to sleep, he gets up at 2:30 AM, and his wife is having twins, and stupid excuses like that. We only played him because we only had 10 guys."
The TMJ4 newsroom was abuzz with news of the victory. Reached for comment shortly before the 10PM news, Anchor Mike Jacobs offered, "We have a softball team that plays actual games?"
Jacobs said he was previously unaware that the group was in a competitive league. "I thought those losers just hit balls around at the park. Now I learn they're celebrating their 'not quite last place' finish. Embarrassing."
