MMSD cleans the sewer. Seriously?
In this story we've been covering about fertilizer tainted with PCB's, MMSD reported a cleaning project may be to blame.
Initially officials were concerned that someone was dumping the outlawed chemical into the sewer system. They ruled that out with a hilarious soundbite we ran this morning that essentially said it wasn't a, "Midnight Dumper or a hot load coming."
Midnight Dumper? Hot Load? What?
The first time I had to finish delivering that story this morning coming out of that sound bite, I almost lost it. I mean, there are just so many jokes and images those phrases conjure up. I'll let you insert your own. Nice.
The other question I had... why the hell are we cleaning the sewer? Isn't the sewer the place we dump undesirable stuff? Don't we pretty much expect the sewer to be dirty... forever? You know, I hear the garbage dump is really dirty too. Let's get a crew out there cleaning that.
Okay... seriously... I'm sure there's a very good reason the sewers get cleaned. I'll leave decisions like that to the experts. It just struck me as funny.
