SHERIFF HAS SENSE OF HUMOR
MISSING KANGAROO MAKES FOR FUNNY PRESS RELEASE
You can't make this stuff up, but you can make light of it.
The Dodge County Sheriff's department was recently involved in a bizarre search for a group of animals that escaped from a hobby farm. Among the escapees was a diaper wearing kangaroo.
Seriously, can you imagine cruising highway 26 there and seeing a kangaroo hopping on down the lane?
Obviously, due to the strange nature of this story, we in the media found ourselves quite interested... and hence placing many calls to the Dodge County Sheriff's Department seeking more information and comment.
Here's the press release we ultimately received:
"The Dodge County Sheriff’s Dept. received a call of a baby kangaroo that was missing from a local exotic animal farm. The kangaroo was located shortly after the report but the owners did not call in to say they found it. At this time we are not missing any kangaroos."
Sheriff... that is awesome! "At this time we are not missing any kangaroos."
I've met Todd Nehls. I last saw him as he returned from overseas with his Wisconsin National Guard unit. He's always been a good guy to deal with, and I know he's well respected in his community. What I didn't know was that he had that in him.
"At this time we are not missing any kangaroos."
Being Sheriff is a tough job, and one's ability to do it right can be the difference between life and death. That said, there's a time and place for not taking yourself too seriously and he found it. Props to you Sheriff.
