NEWS ANCHOR WINS MAJOR AWARD
DUNDIE PRESENTED TO VITRANO
Today's TMJ4 Production Specialist Mike Jacyna presented News Anchor Vince Vitrano with a coveted Dundie award today.
The award was made popular by the hit TV show The Office, where Branch Manager Michael Scott gives out annual awards named after the paper company for which he works, Dunder Mifflin.
Vitrano today received the award for "Best TMJ4 News Anchor Named Vince."
"I'm appreciative; I'm humbled; I'm deserving," said Vitrano. "I mean I'm not the kind of person who brags all the time, but I am the best news anchor named Vince in this news room; there's no question about that."
Reached for comment shortly after presenting the award Jacyna, a production specialist for the station, seemed to indicate it was some sort of joke that Vitrano wasn't getting.
"I mean, we saw these for sale on an Internet site," Jacyna said. "We thought Vinny would find it funny, but he got real uppity about it... like he didn't get the joke."
Vitrano's co-anchor Susan Kim was complimentary of her co-hort's efforts, but also agreed he was taking the award thing a little far.
"Vinny does a nice job," Kim said, "but really. It wasn't a real award." Kim continued, "He's walking around like he won an Emmy, and even then that would have been uncool."
One source inside the TMJ4 news room said Vitrano cornered News Director Bill Berra first thing in the morning. "He walked into Bill's office with him," the source indicated, "and word is he was asking for a raise."
In the meeting, Vitrano reportedly citing the award as evidence that he's vastly underpaid.
News Director Bill Berra would not comment on the award, but he did confirm that Vitrano is underpaid.
