BON JOVI IN MY TOP 5 OF ALL TIME

GREAT SHOW A WHILE AGO

  • Print

Granted, it was Summer of 1993 and I was in college so everything was great, but Bon Jovi was a super Summerfest show.

I'm not sure the band still puts out like it did more than a decade ago, but if it's close, go see Bon Jovi at Summerfest this summer.

The Big Gig just announced the July 5th concert, with tickets going on sale this Saturday.

I know things always look better in retrospect, but I'd put that Bon Jovi show in my top 5 concerts of all time. We just had hand stamps, sat on the bleachers, and took it all in. I think my buddies even took their shirts off. They were pretty buff. I believe my shirt remained on.

I swear they played for 3 hours. They played during the fireworks... played every song I wanted to hear... and played 3 encores if I recall correctly.

At one point Jon even asks the crowd (since it was a weeknight) don't you people have to go to work tomorrow? There were scattered groans, and a few screams of, "NO!"  So dude says, "(expletive) then. We'll play."

Others in my personal top 5 would have to be Bob Dylan at Alpine Valley (1987ish),  and Prince at Summerfest a few years ago. I didn't even want to go to that one, but wow.  U2 at the Bradley Center... Elevation Tour... not sure exact year is also in the top 5. Sting at the Milwaukee Theater was great, and I didn't want to go to that one either.

Not sure if that cracks my top 5 since I have to give a nod to one of my favorite bands, The Black Crowes. They played an amazing show at the Rave around Halloween a couple years ago.  More on the Crowes in a subsequent blog.
