WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS SEEM TO HAPPEN?
This front page photo from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel happens to be of Marcus Landry, though Badger fans everywhere probably looked a lot like this Sunday afternoon.
Does it seem like it always ends like this? High expectations, unwatchable games, embarrassment. I mean I know we (and by we I mean of course the Badgers) lost Brian Butch. Apparently he was that good, but still. Those two Badger games were totally un-enjoyable.
This on the heels of a painful Marquette game, and early exit for the Golden Eagles Thursday. Hey look... we lose a tough game, that's cool. But both teams looked awful. Wisconsin got one more shot, because it did all season what Marquette could not, win ugly.
Ugly it was, however, even in victory. Don't get me wrong, just like the Football Badgers did in the Capitol One Bowl this year, I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty. That said... unwatchable!
So now with both "our" teams out... we turn our attention to the pools. Sure, everybody's still got their final four (minus the few believers who picked Wisconsin). Anyway, I think my daughter is actually ahead of me in the standings right now.
The same teams that screw me up every year did it to me again. No matter what I pick Arizona, Indiana, or any team coached by Bob Knight or Rick Pitino to do, they do the opposite. Pick 'em to win, they lose. Pick 'em to lose... they win. I mean every year!
I'm done. I believe I may be mathematically eliminated by Friday. Ella, daddy's sorry you can't get new crayons. I'll try to bring home some more pens and paper from work.
