Access Control Systems. That's the answer to the wrong way driver problem.
We had another one this weekend. That's nearly 3 dozen wrong way drivers on Milwaukee area freeways this year alone. There are proposals for new signs, even flashing lights at the on-ramps.
That won't do it.
Here's one way to make sure nobody gets on going the wrong way. Seems like these things used to be more prevalent. I thought I remember them in the old Marine Bank parking garage. They're the spikes in the road that, if you travel over them in the correct direction, they retract and cause no damage. If you go the wrong way over them, they blow your tires.
Let's get a system like this at the "confusing" ramps in the downtown area to begin with. See how far these drunks get with 4 blown tires.
