It's pretty sad that my daughter got skates for Christmas. And in between a quick post-Christmas trip to see family, a trip to Arizona to see the Packers in the playoffs, and plenty of Olympic preps, I couldn't actually take her for her first skate until recently.
But I tried to make up for it, with an Olympic theme.
For Rebekah's first skate, I took her to the Pettit National Ice Center. On the big oval. And told her this is where the Olympic speedskaters trained.
She thought that was so cool, she asked when they trained. If they could train with her. And if she could go as fast as the speedskaters.
And then of course, she saw the figure skaters and the hockey players, and got distracted.
Between the two of us, we won't be breaking any records any time soon. But it's a story we won't soon forget. Thanks to Pettit Center PR guru Rob Multerer for helping make our skate dreams come true!
