The Saints Are Heavenly
And I've Never Been More Happy To Be Wrong
I have something in common with Phil Simms. The excellent NFL analyst said the Colts shouldn't be blitzing on third down. They did. And legendary QB killer Tracy Porter, like he had against Brett Favre, picked off the pass....only this time, TD, game over.
I was convinced the Saints would hang, and then Peyton Manning's experience would win out.
Obviously both Simms and I were wrong. But I'm happy to be.
New Orleans deserves it. Drew Brees deserves it. Years of Saints futility deserves it.
Funny, Brees had the most attempts in a college game and tied for the most completions, with 55 against Wisconsin...and lost. This time, he tied a Super Bowl record with 32 completions..and won.
The Saints, all about defying the odds. And now the true offseason begins. Which means two things to me:
One, what do the Packers need to do to get to the Saints level? The Cardinals couldn't compete, and they beat the Pack.
And two, if you're a Vikings fan...you have to be even more sick. Because the Colts were ripe for the picking. And the Saints, picked them off.
