The Packers Defy Logic
Hot Or Not?
So let me get this straight. The Packers are near the top of the league in penalties...sacks given up...and they've only converted 24 TD's in 48 trips to the red zone, yet other than the undefeated Saints, they're the hottest team in the NFC?
And even going all Tammy Wynette and standing by their man, which I've learned by someone with knowledge of NFL personnel moves that the Packers won't bring in a free agent kicker to try out during Tuesday's off day to make Mason Crosby think a little?
So maybe the Packers are a really good football team, because somehow they're overcoming mistakes, and even now in the past 2 games, an uncharacteristic 5 turnovers.
I'm not going to say the Packers are Super Bowl bound...that would be foolish. But remember all that hand wringing after the Packers lost to the Bucs? People were ready to jump off the Firstar Building in downtown Milwaukee. Many shortsighted fans forget that during the 1997 season, the Packers lost to the then winless, 0-10 Colts. And they still went on to the Super Bowl.
If the playoffs started today, the Packers would play at Arizona, right after finishing the regular season against the Cards. And that's a game that they can win.
But in my mind, that's about it. I don't believe they're solid enough in special teams, especially with the coverage units and Mason Crosby's inability to make a pressure kick....but you know, so far they've defied most other odds as I just pointed out.
