Lance Allan: Sports Glance with Lance

PACK & VICK

NOW THIS IS A BOLD STEP FOR TED THOMPSON

  • Print

Let me be on record in saying that Packers GM Ted Thompson has done a great job rebuilding the depth of the Packers roster through the draft.

That being said, I think he's usually taken the safe, conservative approach...and drafted good (but not great), solid (but not spectacular) players that have few flaws (i.e. good citizens who don't have character flaws.)

And maybe that's why without saying a lot, the GM's comments about Michael Vick are a little shocking, and very interesting...and I'm still trying to digest if I like them (I'm leaning toward yes.)

On Tuesday, Thompson was asked if he would sign Michael Vick...and rather than say he had no interest, Ted left the door open...a crack by saying "we look at all options, all the time."  Which means the jury is still out...let's just hope the jury isn't filled with dogs for ol' Mike's sake.

Now this could be like one of my favorite movie lines ever, from Dumb & Dumber (no jokes about my mental ability, please)...where Lauren Holly tells Jim Carrey's character Lloyd that he has about a one in a million chance of going out with her.  To which Lloyd replies, "so you're saying there's a chance...YES!."   (If you want to go down memory road, here's the clip:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX5jNnDMfxA

So I'm asking for your opinion.  It's a long shot, perfect fodder for talk radio goofs to sit and pontificate about all day, which I'm sure they will.  But do you say yes, or no to Vick?  I'll be listening...
