THE PIRATES ACTUALLY WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP!
AND WE HAVE DOCUMENTED PROOF!
The Major League Pirates are on the verge of the longest losing streak in major pro sports history. One more under .500 season, and those Pirates with have 17 straight losing seasons...the longest streak in MLB, the NBA, the NFL, the NHL, or tiddlywinks for that matter.
But this weekend, the Caledonia Pirates made up for all that...beating the Red Sox 8-7 for the Caledonia Pee Wee Championship. Having to play 2 extra innings, Will Francis led off the 8th with a single to left field....then scored the winning run later that inning.
The Pirates outscored the opponent in the first 2 games 24-8, and finished an undefeated season with 10 wins and a tie.
Somehow I'm thinking these Pirates could show the major league Pirates a thing or two. Even teach them the proper technique on a gatorade bath...since the "Big Pirates" probably forgot how to do it after all these years!
