You might have no clue of who this guy is, or why he's holding a small tree branch on a fairway.
Well, he's my good friend Corbin Dooley, who recently almost didn't survive his 40th birthday because of that piece of forest.
Let me explain. On an area golf course (unnamed for good reason), I as usual was looking for my ball on the edge of the tree line. And after I found said ball, I emerged from the shrubs to hear a squealing noise and a bang, then looked to see various items of brush flying.
Come to find out, Corbin was riding in a cart with his good friend Jay. Going down a hill, the cart suddenly went out of control on the wet grass. And as it spun, Jay jumped out....leaving old birthday boy Corbin to fend for himself!
The cart slipped down an embankment, and ending up slamming into a tree. Thank goodness Corbin was ok...only getting the ride of his life on his birthday, some "beauty" marks on the cart....and some branches to remove underneath the frame.
Needless to say, the rest of the round not as memorable as the round and round on the course...and therefore, the "fairway wood" shot from Corbin.
So if you see ol' Corbin on the street, tell him happy birthday...and please tell him we're glad he's still here on earth, instead of carrying half the earth with him!
