PACKERS KAMPMAN SAYING NEXT TO NOTHING...
We told you earlier in the week that Donald Driver would show up at this OTA...and that most of his contract issue was wanting to convert bonus money into guaranteed money. And while in my book that still is categorized as a renegotiation plea or a contract issue, I think the report of him really mad about his deal was widely overblown.
But Aaron Kampman? There are issues there, my friends.
Aaron Kampman is one of the most honest, upright players I've ever covered. And I'm sure his reluctance to talk was because he didn't want to lie about the Packers new 3-4 defense.
But I think I counted at least 6 "I'm learning it" quotes from him in his first comments about the switch. The most telling statement came when our Jessie Garcia asked Kampman if he felt like he was a better 4-3 end. Kampman merely replied, "I'm not at liberty to really make those choices."
Oh oh. And with every 4 second soundbite, you could tell one thing.
I'm almost convinced that most likely Mike McCarthy told Kampman he needed to talk, because his silence was fueling the speculative fire about his discontent. And Kampman in his mind thinks, I'll talk...but I'm not going to lie. Which I acutally commend him for. Kampman's body language also seems to indicate "I'm not totally down with the new system, and I was more comfortable in the old one."
Check out all of Kampman's short snippets from the locker room and you tell me...does this look like a happy camper?
