Lance Allan: Sports Glance with Lance

HERE'S MY BRACKETOLOGY

TIME FOR THE TOURNAMENT

  • Print

Everyone this time of the year turns into a Bracketology expert.  People that haven't watched basketball all year, suddenly know every 5-12 upset that's going down.

I'll admit, the first two days...even the first four days of the tournament are some of my favorite days in sports. So here we go...let's see if I can do it.

The highlights?  I have North Carolina winning it all, Marquette getting to the Sweet 16...and Wisconsin falling to Florida State, even though I was SO tempted to pick the Badgers.  I just think UW's offensive woes cause them to fall by 3.

So in the first round, I have Louisville, Ohio State, Arizona, Wake Forest, Dayton, Kansas, USC and Michigan State winning in the Midwest....UConn, Texas A&M, Purdue, Washington, Marquette, Missouri, Cal and Memphis winning in the West....Pitt, Tennessee, Florida State, Xavier, UCLA, Villanova, Texas and Duke in the East...and North Carolina, Butler, Illinois, Gonzaga, Arizona State, Syracuse, Michigan and Oklahoma in the Southeast.

Round two I have Louisville, Wake Forest, Kansas, Michigan St., UConn, Purdue, Marquette, Memphis, Pitt, Xavier, Villanova, Duke, N. Carolina, Gonzaga, Syracuse and Oklahoma as my Sweet 16.

Then it's Wake Forest upsetting Louisville, Kansas knocking out Michigan St., UConn beating Purdue and Memphis ending Marquette's run.  Pitt over Xavier, Duke beating Villanova, N. Carolina edging Gonzaga and Syracuse running past Oklahoma to make the Elite 8.

Kansas will beat Wake Forest, Memphis over UConn, Pitt over Duke and N. Carolina upends Syracuse to make the Final Four.

Then it's Memphis over Kansas to reverse last year's title game, and North Carolina beating Pitt.

It's title number two for Roy Williams in Tar Heel country, as UNC beats Memphis 82-80 for the championship as Memphis finishes as the bridemaid again.
