Gladiators Cage Fighting Returns to Milwaukee this Saturday
Monday, March 9, 2009 (Milwaukee, WI USA) Budweiser, Combat Corner, ExpressMilwaukee.com, Speedy Metals, WI Combat Sports and Duke Roufus MMA Academy present Gladiators Cage Fighting "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" Saturday, March 14, 2009 inside the Wisconsin Products Pavilion building on the grounds of WI State Fair Park. Over 25 professional and amateur MMA bouts are scheduled for the megacard which starts when the doors open at 5:00 p.m.. The main card begins at 8:00 p.m.
MMA has taken over the airwaves with UFC, WEC, Strike Force & Affliction's extremely popular promotions. MMA is regarded as the fastest growing sport in the world and Milwaukee, with it's rich Boxing and Kickboxing history, has now established itself as a hotbed for up-and-coming MMA fighters, as well.
Gladiators Cage Fighting is always looking to showcase Wisconsin talent to help establish the state's top professional and amateur MMA competitors. In doing so, well known fighters from around the world have come to Milwaukee to take on the area's best.
You can now add Joe "The Triangular Strangler" Pearson's name to the visitor's list when he takes on local favorite "Savage" Dan LaSavage of West Allis, WI in the show's main event Saturday night.
Pearson, 30-13-1, represents Davenport, Iowa's famed Miletich Fighting Systems team and is an extremely dangerous submission specialist with 87% of his wins coming via submission. No stranger to big fights, Pearson has fought some of the best in the WEC & Japan's legendary Pride Fighting Championship.
Pearson biggest fight was shown live on the Versus Network January 20, 2007 when he took on Uriah "The California Kid" Faber, 22-2. Uriah went to win the match via 1st round TKO. Pearson fought in Pride Fighting Championship against crafty Japanese WEC & Pride veteran Yoshiro Maeda, 23-6-2, winning via 1st round Guillotine Choke in an impressive :54 seconds. In addition, Pearson holds a notable win over WEC veteran Tommy Lee by 1st round arm bar submission.
LaSavage's record stands at 7-1, with 1 no contest, and is currently Wisconsin Combat Sports #1 ranked Banatamweight (-135 lbs) MMA fighter in Wisconsin. LaSavage knows he has a tough order to fill against Pearson, but has shown promise to jump to the next level and is looking to breakout into the elite levels of MMA. "This the biggest fight of my career, it gives me an opportunity to showcase my skills against national talent and move to the big leagues of MMA." Lasvage said, "I plan on showing Milwaukee's MMA fans what they made when I bring the win home for them!"
LaSavage, fighting out of Milwaukee's Roufusport Fight Club, is supported by teammates and UFC fighters Red Schafer, Alan Belcher and Pat Barry, star of Season 3 of SpikeTV's "The Ultimate Fighter" reality show Solomon Hutcherson, Affliction Fighting's Ben Rothwell and the WEC's Anthony Pettis. "Training side-by-side with the elite pros at Roufusport has me ready for this fight. We have such a close team here, Pearson is not my fighting me, he is fighting Roufusport and the Milwaukee fans."
The co-main event is for the vacant Gladiators Cage Fighting Middleweight Title with Roufusport's Karl Turek meeting Madison's "Handsome" Pat O'Malley in the cage for a chance at taking home the Gladiators Middleweight belt. This is a great chance for fight fans to see America's hottest and fastest growing sport up close and LIVE!
