I received a hilarious e-mail from my good friend Kevin Hunt the other day. And there are two things you quickly learn about Kev:
One, I call it the rule of Hunt. Many teams suck, until he arrives. He had the magic dust with the Packers. Now after 61 years of futility, the Cardinals revive when Kev arrives in Arizona.
And two, the man has some of the worst luck possible. And that's where Kevin's story begins.
Before the NFC Championship game, he does a 2-hour pregame show, and an hour postgame show after the Cards punch their ticket to the Super Bowl. On the way back to the TV station, Kevin's eyes were swelling up. Kevin's co-anchor Bruce Cooper and a news reporter had the same problem, and they assumed it was from the confetti falling after the game.
Later on, Kevin's eyes were nearly swollen shut. The others had problems as well, so they went to the emergency room. Come to find out, the crew brought lights from the studio with no filters. Not only did it give Kev a wicked sunburn, it burned the corneas and caused an infection between Kev's eye and eyelid. It did the same for everyone else, but their doctors order them to take a week off from work and rest their eyes.
Kevin's doctor? He didn't say anything, so Kevin returned to work...hoping not to go blind! Only Kevin would have this happen to him...
Let's hope for softer lights and better vision for our old friend Kev at Super Bowl 43 in Tampa!
