CC IN NYC
THE VISUAL PROOF HARD TO STOMACH
This is why I think Wisconsin sports fans are some of the smartest on the planet.
I've heard hardly a single person bash CC Sabathia for leaving the Brewers. Given the choice of 7 years of security, and $161 million dollars to back it up...why would you take 2 fewer years and about $60 million less to stay somewhere where you have no attachment?
I think Brewers fans are smart enough to know CC did everything in his power, and carried this team on his broad shoulders by pitching on 3-days rest 4 different times, just to break a 26-year playoff drought...even with big dollars and free agency riding on his big left arm.
That still doesn't make photos like this any more easy to stomach. At a press conference later today, CC will officially put on his Yankees uniform for the first time.
Here's a sneak preview. CC flew into New York on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, he was already spotted by photographers outside his hotel, so he checked out and checked into a different hotel!
He better get used to it. He is the centerpiece to get the Yankees back to what they did from 1996-2001....4 titles in 5 years.
In the meantime, Sabathia got to try on his new work hat, and get a tour of the new Yankees Stadium while flashing a toothy grin as his image in Yankee pinstripes flashed up on the scoreboard.
And while CC isn't officially on the clock with the Yanks, he did put the hard hat on at the construction site...a metaphor for the millions the Yankees are pouring not only into the team, but into their stadium.
There's no word on if the Yankees had the 300-plus pounder on the jack hammer later in the day.
