PACKERS-TEXANS PREDICTION

IT CAN'T GET WORSE, CAN IT?

  • Print

Just like the Packers, I seem to be fading on my predictions at the worst time.  This week, I'm doing what the Packers should do...don't prepare too much, just keep it brief and let what comes natural flow!

When the Packers have the ball:  The Texans were ridiculed for taking Mario Williams first overall, ahead of Reggie Bush and Vince Young in '06.  Don't laugh anymore.  This guy is a beast, plays both end positions, and needs to be accounted for.  Ryan Grant did practice all week, so he should go.  But look for more Brandon Jackson, and more inside running plays where the Texans are weaker.  Also, the Packers should expose the Houston secondary...and if the Packers can punch early and often, they should knock this dome team out.   Jeremy Kapinos, here's your chance.

When the Texans have the ball:  Andre Johnson is the best receiver that never gets any pub.  Great hands, great speed, good route runner, breaks tackles and he's physical.  Rookie Steve Slaton might be small, but he's starting make his mark.  And if the Packers can't rush and sack Matt Schaub coming off a knee injury, they'll never get to any QB from here on out.  Greenfield's Matt Turk might be 40, but unlike Derrick Frost, he's still getting it done.  With Bryan Pittman suspended, former Packer draft pick Clark Harris is the long snapper.  That could be an issue.

Prediction:  Houston's getting better, but something tells me they don't want any part of the cold...and the Packers finally win.  30-20 Green Bay.
