IS JUSTIN HARRELL A BUST ALREADY?

ONE YEAR IN, AND THE DOUBT MOUNTS

  • Print

So let me get this straight.

Justin Harrell has "minor" back surgery (oxymoron).  He won't practice until training camp.  And back in college, he suffered a significant injury, tearing his bicep tendon and earlier in his career he broke his ankle.

I sense a major injury risk.  And usually with young players, you give them at least 2, if not 3 years to determine if they're a player or not.

Well, if something smells fishy, it's usually a fish.  And if it looks like a bust, it just very well might be.  I hope I'm wrong, because Harrell does have athletic talent.

But two things I've already observed.  One, last year when Harrell did play, he didn't tie up blockers...he frequently had his pad and butt level up too high, and got shoved back 2-3 yards.  And two, when he's supposed to be competing for the starting job vacated by Corey Williams, he's riding a stationary bike and not available until late July at the earliest.

The Volunteer Harrell idolized Reggie White at Tennessee.  But instead of playing like big number 92, he's playing more like his number 91, and another former Volunteer that wore that number with the Pack.  Remember Jonathan Brown?  Neither does anyone else in Packerland.  Be more like Reggie, and not Jonathan....Justin Harrell!
