The Music City Miracle. The Immaculate Reception. The Holy Roller.
And now maybe it's called the Immaculate Interception That Wasn't?
It's already a play that will live in infamy and be as controversial, if not more so that those 3 NFL classics.
A clear interception by M.D. Jennings, and a pass interference shove by Golden Tate...ruled a TD on a very flimsy shared catch, reviewed and not overturned.
And now, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has a problem on his hands that he has to fix by replacing the replacement refs with the real ones.
I've been asked if he can overturn the outcome of the game. He can according to league rules, but I'm saying he won't because you don't want to set a precedent for something that hasn't happened before and cast doubt over all officials in the NFL.
Just like in this business, credibility is everything. And the NFL is becoming the Emporer with no clothes if they continue to play hardball with the regular referees.
If I'm the Packers, I cut the check for the players critical tweets that will be fined, and just ask how much to write it out for in the process.
But the Packers do need to be wary of one thing. A very hungry 0-3 Saints team comes to Lambeau on Sunday. So you can't dwell on this forever, lose focus, and let it fester.
