Ryan Braun's Appeal Should Be In Two Weeks
And Racing Could Return To The Milwaukee Mile
Two stories we first told you about on Thursday involving Ryan Braun and the Milwaukee Mile.
First, a MLB source tells me Braun's appeal should be on January 22nd or 23rd, since the Brewer is scheduled to be in New York City for the BBWAA MVP Awards Banquet on January 21st. Braun could back out of the event, but right now he's planning on being there, so the appeal should come right after that.
And you learn with racing at the Milwaukee Mile, never say never. Two sources told us Indy Car and State Fair Park officials talked before Christmas about holding a race here, and more talks are scheduled again next week, but there's a better than 50-50 chance right now that the open wheel series could return again.
The date talked about is Saturday, June 16th...after the Texas race, and before the series heads to Iowa. And I'm told the Andrettis are involved in the promotion process.
It's still not a done deal, but at least there's hope for racing to return. I'm not sure if hope is the same word that can be used for Braun's appeal.
