Lance Allan: Sports Glance with Lance

Praising the Packers

Now on the Way to LA

  • Print

I kept looking at my phone, California dreamin' on Christmas night at Lambeau.

While it wasn't that cold, 70 and sunny in LA as I land for our Rose Bowl coverage on Monday doesn't seem all that bad for the holiday break.

But before I rub it in too much, I think the Packers might be hotter.  Consider all the records going down again...

For just the second time in NFL history, one team has beaten another team four times in one calendar year.  The Packers defeating the Bears 4 times equals the then-LA Raiders over Denver 4 times in '94.

The 14 wins this year, a new franchise record for the regular season.

Aaron Rodgers breaks Lynn Dickey's mark for passing yards in a season.

Rodgers 5 TD passes equals Cecil Isbell, Don Horn, Dickey and Brett Favre among Packers QB's with that many tosses in a game.

Rodgers 45 TD passes this season is now fourth all-time, behind Tom Brady's 50 in 2007, Peyton Manning's 49 in '04 and Dan Marino's 48 in '84.

And Donald Driver becomes just the 36th player in NFL history to have more than 10,000 receiving yards.

Wow...and just think.  With home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, the Lions, Cowboys, Giants or Falcons could be coming to Lambeau.  And the season should roll on...

Next time we touch base, I'll be talking to you from So Cal...
