Things Heard Around the Rose Bowl Bound Badgers

From the Field and Locker Room

While on the field during the celebration, here's a few gems I heard and collected from the first ever Big Ten Championship game winners:

Barry Alvarez:   "Don't get sick of the Rose Bowl now," and then he laughed heartily.  "Don't get sick of the Rose Bowl.  It is the BEST!"   And yes, he shouted BEST with the exclamation point!

When I caught up with Brad Nortman just before the trophy presentation, he was very honest about the way the game essentially ended:  "I may have acted a pinch, but hey he did hit me."

Josh Oglesby soaked it in on the field.  "This rose smells so sweet," taking a big whiff.  "After not playing last year, it's even better."  After 6 knee surgeries, the big right tackle deserves to stop and smell the roses.

Russell Wilson thinks he may have broken his nose when he got facemasked on the TD throw to Jared Abbrederis.  "It's pretty swollen," he said sounding like he had a sinus infection.

Montee Ball on the team's season:  "This team has incredible character.  I told my teammates it's going to be a heckuva story."

And now it continues on to Pasadena.
