This Should Motivate The Brewers
The World Series Hits Close to Home
The World Series win by the Cardinals, should hit the Brewers hard. And be fuel to the 2012 fire.
The Crew was just 2 games away from playing for Major League Baseball's top prize. And then watching your least favorite rival, from your own division, that finished behind you take the crown...it should sting.
The 2011 record books will show that the Brewers won the NL Central. It will also show the St. Louis Cardinals were the better team, by winning it all.
There's no love lost from Brewers players when it comes to St. Louis. They think the Cardinals are self-righteous, and claim to play "pure baseball" even though they bend and break rules all the time.
It's the perfect motivation for the Crew to be better next year.
Sure, Prince Fielder officially becomes a free agent at 12:01am Sunday (Saturday night midnight), but there are plenty of things the Brewers can do to try and knock the Cardinals off their perch:
Get production out of third base. David Freese played like an MVP, with a single postseason record 21 RBI.
Play better defense. Seven errors in 2 games, and an NLCS record 9 overall would sink any team.
Get hot. Who cares if the Brewers top 96 wins next year. Just make the postseason, and it's not always the best team that wins. Sometimes it's the hottest. Get in, and roll.
