Lance Allan: Sports Glance with Lance

Packers Most Important Preseason Game

Issues To Examine

  • Print

Most of the Packers say it's not really on their mind, but if they want to go where they want to go, they'll already be there this Friday.

Understand me?

What if I say that if the Packers want to go to the Super Bowl, they need to be in Indy for Super Bowl XLVI...the site of the third preseason game against the Colts.

Aaron Rodgers says playing in a dome will help the non-verbal communication, especially for new starting left guard T.J. Lang.  Plus games with Atlanta, Minnesota, and Detroit are on the regular season slate.

Rodgers also says he would like to see a third down back emerge, whether it's steady Dimitri Nance, who's had a good camp, or dynamic rookie Alex Green.  I'll lean toward Green.

Seeing who's in or out, rookie WR Randall Cobb and DE Mike Neal are both out with knee bruises.  Greg Jennings hasn't been ruled out by Mike McCarthy, but he didn't practice on Wednesday.

All-Pro LB Clay Matthews should play despite his hamstring issues, but DE C.J. Wilson, DL Lawrence Guy and S Anthony Levine are all out with concussions.
