When Rickie Weeks left ankle twisted the wrong direction, and he laid on the Miller Park turf, my first thought was...Rickie Weeks is one of the toughest guys in baseball. And if he's not getting up, it's not good.
Well, Brewers Owner Mark Attanasio calmed some fears by saying x-rays are negative and didn't show a break. But Ron Roenicke confirmed other concerns, saying Weeks is likely to be placed on the disabled list, and won't be out for just a couple of days.
Ouch.
Now Craig Counsell is very solid defensively, but is O for forever streak can't be in the lineup on an everyday basis. So what do you do? Continue the talks with the Dodgers for Jamey Carroll? Increase the offer for the Astros Clint Barmes? Check with the Mariners on Adam Kennedy?
The Brewers were also rumored to be sniffing around on White Sox lefthanded pitcher Matt Thornton and OF Alex Rios, and the Dodgers Hiroki Kuroda and Rafael Furcal.
I'd be curious about your thoughts to play GM Doug Melvin for a day on twitter @lanceallan
