Mail Carrier For a Day, Stamp Out Hunger

But Did I Win, or Cheat?

  • Print
You know what they say in NASCAR...it's only cheating, if you get caught. And if you're not cheating, you're not trying very hard. I'll get to more about that in a moment. The important thing is to remember to give non-perishable food to your mail carrier on Saturday, May 14th to help stamp out hunger. Or place it in a bag near your mailbox. It's amazing to think that the USPS has done this every May for nearly 20 years...and the billion pounds of food they've collected, are usually gone by September. There's a need, and the least we can do is give. And if you can't do it Saturday, I'm sure you could make arrangements with the good people at the Hunger Task Force to donate when you can. Now for the controversial part. Click on the video to watch the Mail Carrier Olympics, where we had to dress up like the USPS, go through an obstacle course, and carry food. Only problem? Bango told me to pick up one of the food bins. I did, and ended up collecting the most food. I felt like a 1970's Russian weighlifter or German swimmer. It wasn't included in the rules, so I bent the rules to my way to finish on top of the podium. You know what they say...desperate times call for desperate measures! But it was all for a good cause, you know... Emails at lallan@todaystmj4.com
