Note To Big Ten: I'm Not a Legend Or a Leader
Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?
It's bad enough that the new Big Ten logo screams 1975, and looks like a first draft from a college graphic design class.
But now they have to break up the new 12-team conference in divisions called the Leaders, and the Legends?
What happened to Schembechler and Hayes? Or even the Plains and the Great Lakes?
I will guarantee you that even hardcore Badger fans won't remember Wisconsin is in the Leaders Division. And they'll laugh with Minnesota in the Legends Division.
I loved Bucky's take on the whole deal at a recent basketball game, holding up a sign that said "Leader of the Leaders."
But come on, when asked about it, Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany said "all of these things will engender discussion." Which has me believe they pretty much wanted something shocking, just to get people talking about it.
Well, I guess it worked for this blog. But shock value discussion has a short term shelf life. And to me, this one's already expired.
