Lance Allan: Sports Glance with Lance

Things Seen And Heard 'Round the Packers Lockerroom

"Foot on the Gas, Hands on the Wheel"

Mike McCarthy was a happy man.  You couldn't wipe the smile off his face, after his Packers game Minnesota the worst home loss at the Humpty Dump they've had since 1984, during Les Steckel's one and done season.

There you go Chili.  You're now in the company of Les Steckel.  Plus Packers fans at the dome were holding up signs that said "Keep Childress."  And that's not in a good way.

Again showing how pleased he is, when I asked McCarthy how good his team is, he said "we have our foot on the gas, hands on the wheel, and we're looking straight ahead."  Next up, another measuring stick against another team that wants to prove they are for real in the race for the best team in the NFC...the Atlanta Falcons.

The other comments that struck me...Charles Woodson saying that the team was more even keel this year against the Vikings than last, admitting that the media hype surrounding the Favre circus got to them.

And then there's the "re-evaluating" of Favre.  In all seriousness, this is sad.  I applaud Aaron Rodgers, he takes no pleasure in this.  A legend is going down with the ship in Minnesota.  And while Packers fans should always rejoice over beating their heated and hated rival in the Vikes...watching what could be the sad conclusion to Brett Favre's career is not pleasant.
